Darrell L. Bock's Blog
Bock's Blog It has been sometime since I had a blog entry. I had three major presentations at the Evangelical Theological Society and the Society of Biblical Literature. Those preparations consumed my time the last month.
One was on the idea of the already-not yet Kingdom in Luke-Acts. Another was about the question whether Jesus is the only way to God (a plenary address to the entire Society). The third presentation was at the Society of Biblical Literature where the Historical Jesus book I edited with Robert Webb was the subject of a conversation alongside another book on Jesus edited by Richard Hays and Beverly Roberts Gaventa (from Duke and Princeton). The different but complementary ways these books handled Jesus was the topic of conversation in the eession. There were four responders as well, two from the USA, one from Australia and one from New Zealand. The discussion in this session was great and questions from the floor came from people like Tom Wright. So the week was very profitable, but I am back to blogging after that time away.
On another front, I simply want to wish everyone a wonderful thanksgiving holiday. May the Lord richly bless you in the year to come and may we all enjoy the blessings he gives us.
Christ at the Checkpoint
Dr. Bock, please forgive me for being off topic. I wanted to get a hold of you because you spoke at Christ at Checkpoint Conference. You can disagree, and probably will, a lot with me but I had some questions. First you should know that I am not a Christian Zionist, I am reformed. But I have spent a life time writing against anti-Semitism. I once wrote an article on "Christian Identity" for Christian Research Journal. I am concerned about some of the speakers at Christ at the Checkpoint. I have written one posting: http://naminghisgrace.blogspot.com/2011/11/liberation-theology-or-christian.html I have others but that covers what I want to ask you-how do you feel about the speech by Mitri Raheb and did anyone protest?
