I have just published a new book on the gospel in Scripture. It is with Broadman & Holman Academic. It is a biblical theology of the gospel in the New Testament with some reference to OT promise. It is 140 plus pages. It argues that simply to present the gospel as Jesus' death for sin is to miss a key component of the message, the presence of life in the enabling indwelling of the Spirit.

Well, we are into day 4 at Lausanne Cape Town. I have been working 12 hour plus days with Globalink, trying to get the session up for those not able to attend but at other locales around the world linked by the Net. I think we turned a corner today and material should be up and loaded properly by the end of the day (Some of it is up now).

It does not happen very often. 1979 and 1984 were the last two times. A global meeting of Christians is taking place in Cape Town, South Africa starting at the end of this week. It will run for a little over a week.

I almost hate to bring it up, but the decision on Prop 8 is going the direction that reflects where much of our American culture seems headed, making a decisive turn on a road we have been headed down for some time.

The Blog news service Huffington Post announced today it is starting a scriptural commentary. It should be interesting to watch.

We were weeks ahead of this. CNN ran the Crucifixion story we blogged on a few weeks ago. The religion editor of Newsweek appears to be the source of running the story.

This entry is just a heads up. I leave Tuesday for my year's sabbatical in Germany. So posting will be sporadic until I am all set up with Internet there.

If you followed the posts and responses under the article on a Pro-Israel piece (May 17), you will know that a question from Scandinavia came about a dissertation just defended in Sweden that argues that much of what we think know about the crucifixion needs to be unlearned. Gunnar Samuelsson has written Crucifixion in Antiquity.

In the interest of presenting both sides, I am posting an article by a friend and former student, Noel Rabinowitz, that defends Israel's right to expand in the land. It is a short piece and part of a web page run by Michael Brown. Both are messianics who teach at schools in the USA. Mike speaks around the country as well.
