The First Commandment states that we are not to have any God other than the one true God (Exodus 20:3). You may say that you have not violated this commandment for you believe that Jesus Christ is God. Well, so do the demons and they tremble in fear of Him (James 2:19. Acts 19:15). Do you know Jesus as Lord(1) or do you just know of Him like the demons? Do you show your love for Him by keeping His commandments (John 14:15,21) or do you say He is your Lord, even going to church on Sunday, but live like you are god the rest of the week? (Ezekiel 33:31,32. Luke 6:46) Is your love for Him so great that by comparison you hate (i.e., you are willing to be infinitely separated from) your spouse, children, parents, job, wealth, pleasure, etc. (Luke 14:26) If You Can't Say Amen, Say Oh Me!
Make no mistake, in our present world where multi-faith is being ignorantly touted as the way to world peace (1 Thessalonians 5:1-4) there is only one God and the only way to Him is through accepting His unique Son Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and Lord by the power of the Holy Spirit(1) (Matthew 11:27. John 5:23. John 8:24. John 12:44. John 14:1. John 15:23. 1 John 2:23. 1 John 5:12. 2 John 1:9. Romans 10:9-13). Jesus is the only way to true peace of mind and spiritual heart (Ephesians 2:11-18. Hebrews 13:20,21).
The Law of Consequence for Violating the Commandment
Take for example the Kingdom of Israel under King Solomon (the wisest man until Jesus came to Earth - Luke 11:31) that started out being the most powerful nation on the Earth having been built up by his father King David who loved the Lord with all his heart (Acts 13:22). For example, this kingdom's wealth of gold was so great that silver was considered of minimal value (1 Kings 10:21). This national prosperity continued while they were loyal to the one true God. However, Solomon chose to have many foreign wives (1000 including concubines) and allowed them to bring their gods (i.e., multi-faith) into Israel leading to His and the nation's downfall (Nehemiah 13:26. 1 Kings 11:4-11. Ecclesiastes 7:26,28. Proverbs 7:25-27). Israel then suffered under seventy years of captivity and slavery for their sins (Jeremiah 25:11). Realize, you cannot serve God plus anything else (Matthew 6:24). That is, you are either serving God alone or you are not serving Him at all! Again, you are serving God alone or you are all alone (Jeremiah 11:12. Ephesians 2:12).
The Opportunity of Blessing for Keeping the Commandment
Our once great nation is now on the precipice of destruction as we have chosen to remove the one true God from our society (e.g., removal of: prayer to Him, Ten Commandments, Crosses reminding us of Jesus' sacrifice for us, Christ from Christmas, etc.). Resultantly, we have become a nation of fools led by fools (Psalms 53:1) (2). Nevertheless, God is full of grace, mercy and compassion (Exodus 34:6) and if we His people will humble ourselves, turn from our wickedness, and pray seeking His face then He will hear from Heaven and forgive our sins and heal our land (2 Chronicles 7:14. Joel 2:12-19. Psalms 103:1-8). Furthermore, we must continue to pray for and not prey upon our leaders even if they are fools (1 Timothy 2:1-6. Proverbs 21:1) (2). May the Lord have grace, mercy and compassion on us all (Psalms 121. Psalms 123). Amen (1 Timothy 1:17).

(2) I am not saying they are fools based on my own norm referenced opinion (Matthew 5:22) but rather they fit the criteria referenced in the Bible for what God calls a fool (Psalms 14:1. Luke 12:20).
