Therefore, with these thoughts in mind I would like to make more visible the priority that prayer has in this ministry. I would like to set up a prayer team to pray for both the ministry and for each other. I have asked my wife, Gaye, who is a known prayer warrior, to set this up and to recruit others who would commit to pray for specific items as they are made known to the prayer team. If you want to volunteer for the prayer team go to our volunteer page and type “prayer team volunteer” in the subject line and tell us a little about yourself. Gaye will correspond with you and add you on to the prayer team.
We will begin this tomorrow here in the Dallas office and add to it those who are willing to petition God on behalf of the ministry and people requesting prayer. Specifically we will set aside time each day to pray for the ministry, the donors and all those how share their prayer requests.
In my last Blog, I mentioned that I would discuss actions we have underway to better support those who come to the site. As I have been praying on how to communicate this effectively it became apparent to me that a priority in spiritual discipline of prayer is really how we all might be more effective for the Lord in 2009. I am reminded that the apostles said...
"that the priority in their lives was to be devoted to the ministry of the Word and to prayer". Acts 6:4
and in Prov 15:29 it says:
“The Lord .... hears the prayer of the righteous.”Paul requested prayer for his ministry in Col 4:2-4 and 2Thess 3:1
“ Be devoted to prayer, keeping alert in it with thanksgiving. At the same time pray for us too, that God may open a door for the message so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may make it known as I should.” Col 4:2-4
Finally, pray for us, brothers and sisters, that the Lord's message may spread quickly and be honored as in fact it was among you, 2Thess 3:1Paul also tells us Col 4:5-6 that we should
“Conduct yourselves with wisdom toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunities. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you should answer everyone.” Col 4:5-6These are good reminders for all of us as we approach each day’s task.
