I am in New York on my way to our annual professional meetings in Washington DC. I will try to post, but no guarantees as I have 4 presentations. The key one is evangelicals and the media on Friday. Should be a quite interesting time. Other presentations involve a dedication of a book in honor of Harold Hoehner, a response to Eckhard Schnabel's book on mission, and a look at how character and ethics are developed from apocalyptic literature.

Eckhard Schnabel
I was wondering what the substance of Scnabel's argument is on his book on missions. I recently puchased it but have not read it yet. Is it a work that you would recommend?
dlb - Schnabel
This book is very well done. It is loaded with historical information about the expansion of the church. It argues that Judaism did not have a missionary program and that the church's effort to reach out to the Gentiles was largely unprecedented, as well as being rooted in Jesus' commission. This stood in some contrast to his ministry which was to Israel but did touch Gentiles here and there. Do not be put off by the length of the study. The book is well done and can be used as a solid resource tool.
