Celebration

Fans from New Orleans at Super Bowl experienced exultant celebration as confetti showered down, tearful comments were expressed, and the joyful lifting of the Lombardi trophy by owners, coaches, and players.  A season of hard work, exercise, hard fought combats culminated in this final victory.  All this for a trophy and a season lasting only one year. The passion and joy expressed and experienced lifted all who participated in any way, even as spectators.

What kind of celebration can you imagine when you and I celebrate around the throne of God in our final experience of victory?  Or have we forgotten that we too are in a season of combat, one that lasts a lifetime. How we choose to participate individually will make all the difference.  For those of us who know Christ as Savior, the way that we engage in the season of our lifetimes will result in how we expereince that final evaluation.  Many times I fear I forget how current challenges are simply a pre-season contest preparing me for an eternity prepared especially for me.

At the Super Bowl, one team left defeated, one celebrated victory.  Our culminating meeting with the Savior will leave some celebrating and some suffering loss. (I Cor. 3:10-14)  How we choose to live will  determine the quality of that encounter.  It does make a difference how we live.
