Could You Give Me a Hand?

Could You Give Me a Hand? I doubt that any one would disagree that our hands are a useful part of our body. The question is: are they useful to God? Jesus lived a life of love by extending His hands to show love to others.

Could You Give Me a Hand? I doubt that any one would disagree that our hands are a useful part of our body. The question is: are they useful to God? Jesus lived a life of love by extending His hands to show love to others.I was a little disturbed when I saw that I was coming upon a railroad crossing as a train approached and the arms of the crossing lowered. I had many errands to run and time was getting away from me. As I waited for the train, I began to look around and then I saw her walking somewhat aimlessly across the street. She found her way over to the Bond Shop and rummaged her way through the disposed cigarettes and picked up a few. It was cold and damp outside and I was longing to get home to warm up by the fireplace. I could just feel the warmth as I rubbed my hands together. Hands. Hers were exposed to the cold, damp air. The Holy Spirit gently spoke, “give her the gloves.” I began to search the truck for where I had put an extra pair of gloves to have in case the cold weather hit quickly. I reached across the passenger seat and into the side of the door and there they were. I questioned the safety of my pending action, and God questioned the condition of my heart. I rolled down the window and waved her to come over. “Would you like these gloves for your hands?” She gladly took them. I watched as she slowly inserted her hands into the gloves, one finger at a time.

  • His hands fed the hungry, healed the sick and blessed the children. The Bible tells us that Jesus took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them (Mark 10:16).
  • God has given us the privilege to use our hands to help a preschool come into class for the first time, to give a preteen a high five or to hold a hand while praying with a child who is hurting.

As I drove away and glanced in the rearview mirror, she was holding her hands up and rubbing them together to feel the warmth of a small gesture. It seemed simple and insignificant to me but to her it was as if I had wrapped her hands in the love of God. A simple touch may seem insignificant to you but it will mean the world to a child. So don't be afraid to respond when someone ask, "Could You Give Me a Hand?'

“May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us- Yes, establish the work of our hands. Psalm 90:17  May the Lord bless the work of your hands.

    hands
Thanks Michelle for a lovely reminder to be used of and by God for the less fortunate or even the fortunate who need a loving touch. I will think of that today while I go about my errands and do other things.

    It was an interesting read
It was an interesting read but as well as inspiring. May God help us to use our hands for his Glory alone.
