Build an Ark
God told Noah to build an Ark in order to preserve mankind, but let's not miss the fact that He did it using Noah's family. During the time of Noah God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on the earth had corrupted their ways (Genesis 6:12). God gave Noah the exact dimensions of the ark, what the purpose of the ark would be and who was to be on the ark when God would close the door. In response to God’s command, Noah stopped what he was doing to build the ark and did everything God commanded. (Gen. 6.22)
As followers of Christ, I believe that God wants us to build an ark. There are many signs that indicate that the return of Christ is drawing near. Our ark will be one that is not built with wood, nails or concrete but one that is built with the blood of the New Covenant in Jesus Christ.
- So who do we build an ark for?
- What does it look like?
- And why do we need to build an ark?
God created the family and instituted the family as a place for His people to learn, grow, be loved and nurtured. Ultimately the family is what God used and wants to use to further His kingdom. He wants the family to be the place where children are brought into the protection, peace and provision that can be found from having a personal relationship with a holy God through His Son Jesus Christ.
In Part 2, we will look at how the protection, peace and provision of the ark correlates to the family today.
