Jesus Loves Me!

Jesus loves me!  This I know,

For the Bible tells me so.

Little ones to Him belong;

They are weak, but He is strong.

Chorus:

Yes, Jesus loves me!

Yes, Jesus loves me!

Yes, Jesus loves me!

The Bible tells me so.

These are the famous words written by Anna B. Warner in 1860. Her words were written as a poem in a novel, which were later incorporated into a song.  In 1862 William B. Bradbury added the chorus and the music, making this one of the most popular Christian songs of all time.  To this day, this song is enjoyed and sung by children as well as adults, all over the world.

When asked, "Do you know this song?"  Many in the Christian community, both children and adults would say, "of course I know that song...that song is one of my favorites...I learned it as a young child and I use to sing it in Sunday school."  Do you remember when you first learned the first stanza of this song?

What makes this song so special?  Is it because the words have so much value and meaning?  Are these words true?  Can we believe the words?  Can our children know the love of Jesus?

The fact is the Bible teaches us this extremely important foundational truth.  Yes-Jesus does love me.  All of our Christian faith is based around His love for us and His work on the cross.  Teaching children this truth, especially at a young age, is vitally important in their spiritual journey.  If we want our children to seek and know Jesus as their personal Savior, we must teach them at a young age of His love for them.

Our goal as children's ministry leaders, teachers, and volunteers must be focused on teaching our children the love of Jesus and the need of a Savior.  As we partner with parents to teach this foundational truth, we must continue to seek ways to engage our children to know who Jesus is and yes... that He loves them.

In this changing world with so many distractions and so many family issues, we must demonstrate and model the love of Jesus in front of every child we encounter.  If we want children to love the Lord their God with all of their heart, soul, and mind, then we must be a witness of His unconditional love and share it with every child that walks through the doors of our churches.  Stay faithful to the call you have been called to and continue to reach out and teach children the love of Jesus.  YES - JESUS LOVES ME!
