On to Sydney and Teaching Luke

I leave the lovely city of Perth today and head to Sydney to teach the gospel of Luke at Morling College. While I was here the Australian census was released. It noted that there are more atheists and agnostics in certain states of Australia than Roman Catholics.

Those who noted this to me also observed that how the church communicates is going to have to change. No longer can one expect a respect for Scripture. Ministers will have to be more prepared to deal with more skeptical takes on Scripture. It mirrored what I sense in the USA as well. The same need exists. So I head out grateful to those here who hosted me and to their willingness to reperesent Christ faithfully in a context where the need is great.

    Welcome to Australia

    Dear Professor Bock,

I have enjoyed your writing, particularly "Jesus According to Scripture", so I welcome your presence Down Under where there is so much work to do. I pray that your influence can help strengthen the faith in this land where faith seems to be declining.
