Philippians – Oct 3

Here is another book that is well served with solid treatments. Peter O’Brien’s commentary (NIGNT) is well done, as is Gerald Hawthrone’s treatment in the Word commentary. Moises Silva is also a solid work (BECNT).

These will take you far in this ricvh little epistle.

The four you mention are valuable, especially O’Brien, which is the most detailed on the Greek text. I would also highly recommend what is probably my favorite, Gordon Fee’s NICNT volume, which is almost as long as O’Brien’s. Fee also has a shorter commentary in the IVP series. I am currently reading Stephen Fowl’s contribution to the new Two Horizons New Testament Commentary from Eerdmans, and I am very impressed with it. Marcus Bockmuehl’s contribution to the Black’s New Testament Commentary series is also very good. (I think you meant Ralph Martin’s New Century Bible commentary. Martin also recently revised and expanded Hawthorne’s WBC volume.)
