Sorry to Have Been Away March 6

Well, we are into the heart of the semester and I leave for a 10 day trip that includes lectures at the University of Michigan on Luke and on Why the Humanities Must Respect the Bible, as well as plenary speaking at the ETS Southeastern regional. So I have been deep into preparation. Add to that a hard disk wipeout and I have been out of pocket.

But we are back. I am almost finished with the Hengel book. It should be done in the next week. It is a vigorous defense of a substantial portion of the gospel tradition being authentic. I have also been deep in reading historiographical material in preparation for this year’s IBR Jesus group meeting. In what sense can we speak and should we think about history, theology and philosophy is the question we will be pursuing for one of our papers? It is a topic with a long history of discussion and debate. I will keep you posted as the time for discussion draws near. Tomorrow it is off to the National Religious Broadcasters in Nashville. We had snow in March in Dallas today, very unusual.
