At Beeson Divinity School – July 28

I have spent the last week at Beeson Divinity Pastor’s School as the Bible Teacher. It was a wonderful time with about 300 pastors. I got to hear some great preaching from Erwin Lutzer, Timothy George, John Yates, and Ralph West.

I have spent the last week at Beeson Divinity Pastor’s School as the Bible Teacher. It was a wonderful time with about 300 pastors. I got to hear some great preaching from Erwin Lutzer, Timothy George, John Yates, and Ralph West. So I got to hear the latest about the struggles in the Episcopal church as well as get up to date on the Southern Baptist Convention. Those two denomimations represent the spectrum of what is going on these days. I discussed some key passages in Luke’s gospel as well as the Code and a new piece on what is going on today with Jesus in the public square. This is laying some groundwork for my next book project. It was fun to encourage the pastors to get up to speed on matters pertaining to Jesus today. The teaching was well received. Beeson is a fine school with an absolutely gorgeous chapel. If you get a chance, you should go and see it in Birmingham (actually Homewood, Alabama). The tough job many pastors have is underappreciated in the church. If you are a church member, tell your pastor how much you appreciate his labor on the congregation’s behalf. It is the dog days of summer. Even Birmingham was hot. I pray all of you are well.
