Good discussion on Historical Jesus at Christianity Today April 11

There is a good exchange involving Scot McKnight, Tom Wright, Craig Keener and myself on the Christianity Today web site. Rather than repeat the key elements here I will link the key article by Scot and the responses.

    Historical Jesus
Mr. McKnight’s ideas about not using history is a replacement theology of a different kind…replace history with what the Church says.

This seems to be another prelude to the Phyllis Tickle predictions that the church WILL go thru a major change….according to…get this…the HISTORY of the church!

Emerging ever so obviously is the need to emphasis the church and its people in order to bring about the “new” thinking…let’s not offend other religions…let’s make it global…all for one…one for all….

Jesus then really becomes who they want Him to be….not because of history but because there is a need for the church as a whole to conform…conform to ideas.
