Teacher – Training, That Dreaded Word – “How To Avoid The Training Blahs”

Do you dread asking your faithful volunteers to attend another teacher training?  Have you ever thought to yourself…”Do they really need to attend this teacher training…Will they be encouraged, excited, and engaged…Would I want to attend it if I was a volunteer…Will this teacher training be effective and worth their time to attend…Will it meet their needs as a children’s ministry volunteer?”

In light of jam-packed schedules and limited time, asking a volunteer to attend another teacher-training meeting can be a major request.  As children’s ministry leaders, developing teacher-training workshops that will meet the needs of your volunteers and will effectively equip them to serve in their respective area of children’s ministry is vital.
During the upcoming summer months, spend time evaluating the needs of the ministry and plan your teacher-training meetings for the upcoming year that will impact, encourage, equip, engage, empower, and energize volunteers to serve more effectively with children.  Don’t let the training blahs affect your ministry and don’t discourage your faithful volunteers by having to attend “just another boring training session.”  Make teacher-training worth their valuable time and let them take away new and practical age appropriate ideas that can be implemented with the children they teach.
Here are a few ‘make and take’ teacher-training ideas that will perk up your volunteers and encourage them with excitement for children’s ministry.
