Will You Join Us In…..

In a few days we will turn the clocks back and autumn will officially be here and with it comes the freshness of the brisk air and cooler temperatures and fall colors. No longer are we facing days upon days of hundred degrees. No, today it is in the 50’s and we have turned the heat on. The wonders of God’s creation are breathing easier and joyfully basking in this new season. Not only has the physical season begun to re-invigorate me physically; I have been refreshed and invigorated spiritually in my quiet times.

Three times in the OT I have come across this phrase: "the eye of the Lord". In Ezra 5:5 "the eye (KJV) of their God was upon the elders" or as the NET puts it "But God was watching over…" . In 2 Chron 16:9 "certainly the Lord watches (KJV the eyes of the Lord run to and fro)….and is ready to strengthen those who are devoted to Him". In Zechariah 4:10 "these are the eyes of the Lord, which constantly range across the whole earth." In the NT 1Peter 3:12 says: "For the eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous and his ears are open to their prayer." It appears then that watching is an ongoing activity for God for we are told He never slumbers nor sleeps. With that in mind, there are some important principles and applications to be gleaned from this meditation:

  1. God is watching and nothing is hidden from His view therefore keep a short account with Him
  2. God’s character is that he is circumspectly aware of our doings, comings and goings therefore we need to be "on guard" against the wiles of the devil who is like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour
  3. God’s desire is to strengthen those who are part of His work therefore we are to be about the Master’s business with excellence
  4. God’s eyes are upon the righteous and his ears are open to their prayers which is a critical data point for those who are involved in ministry; first that we be righteous and secondly that we be in the mode of prayer.

So how do the above points fit into the scheme of bible.org? One way is that each week in our prayer log there is one specific prayer request: that the staff here at bible.org be found holy and righteous. God desires both as a key element for those who call themselves believers. Beyond that there is the practical side of the equation. As Solomon asked God for wisdom to judge His people we ask that God would give us His divine direction and wisdom to build bible.org into a site worthy of His glory. And thirdly that God would provide increased financing/donorship and workers and prayer intercessors so that we may be able to achieve these goals.

So how can you as a reader of this blog join with us in this endeavor? We want to ask if you will consider and commit to being a daily intercessor that will pray for bible.org. We sense that the "deadly D’s" are about us seeking ways to distract us with busyness, disappoint us in projects that go astray and volunteers who say they will commit but find excuses why they cannot; discourage us with the amount of work to be accomplished with such a small staff; deplete us with the lack of financial support.. We know that though the enemy seeks to undermine as he did in the case of Haman, yet God raised up Esther for such a time. We believe that Bible.org has been raised for this time that many would not enter a Christ-less eternity and that is why we cling to the verse that says "greater is He within us than he who is in the world". Will you join us? Will you commit to being a daily intercessor? Please let us know if you will join the journey.
