A Captive Fan

Rear view of large group of people enjoying a concert performance. There are many hands applauding and taping the show. Multi colored lasers and spot lights firing from the stage. Silhouettes have been significantly liquified.

Sunday School Chronicles

Me: David and Jonathan were bros. Jonathan was David’s ace. His boy.

*boys start high fiving their best friends*

Girls: Aww!

Me: Fun fact! Jonathan is also Saul’s son. So there’s a lot of tension there. Jonathan’s dad is constantly in competition with his best friend. So Saul and David go to battle. As soon as they come back, all the chicks come out screaming, “Oh my gosh! It’s Saul! He killed thousands! But David killed tens of thousands!” Saul is feeling some type of way because all of his groupies are Team David. They’re supposed to be Team Saul, but all of a sudden it’s, “Saul? Is he in the room with us right now?” The Bible tells us Saul starts side eyeing David.

Student 1: Really????

Me: Yup! Saul goes even further and starts plotting to kill David.

Whole Class: WHAT?????

Me: Yes! And Saul goes all the way off on Jonathan for being David’s bff! He said, “You son of a rebellious woman! You’re stupid! And your mama is dumb for having you! 50% of your DNA is trash! You’re ugly and your mama is ugly!”

Student 2: That’s low! You can’t bring in the moms!

Me: I know! But when all of your actions are sins against God, moms are fair game.

Reflect: It’s easy to live for applause and the approval of our peers. But, people’s opinions of you should never be more important than God’s opinion of you. Ultimately, everything you do is for an audience of One. And that one person in the audience is God. What can you do through thought and action that shows God as the most important watcher?
