Hold on just a little bit longer

Some days are like this. Some months are like this and even some years. You literally feel like it is too hard, too scary, too impossible, too much – the unexpected assault on your mind, the questions, the doubts, the deep disappointments, the ever present responsibilities. You are discouraged, maybe even despondent and there is disruption deep in your soul.  “Is anybody there?” You are worn down and dangerously tired.

The past is too painful, the present too challenging and you have anticipatory anxiety about the future. You not sure if you can hold on even one more second.

Hold on just a little bit longer…can you? will you? Why should you? Where are the words of hope? You are overwhelmed. Selah, the popular music group  captures this difficult tension in their recording of Hold On from their CD Press On. It’s worth going on line and downloading the album.

If you feel today that you can’t make it
Keep holdin’on, cause you can take it
If you hold on a little while longer
Hold on a little while longer
Hold on a little while longer
Hold on

If you feel it’s raining all in your life
And day by day, there’s nothin’
Nothin’ going right
Just hold on a little while longer
Hold on a little while longer
Hold on a little while longer
Hold on

You gotta hold to His hand
God’s unchanging hand
You gotta hold to His hand
God’s unchanging hand
You gotta build your hopes on things eternal
My God will never let you down.

Weeping may endure for the night
But if you trust in Jesus
Everything’s goona be all right
Just hold on a little while longer
Hold on a little while longer
Hold on a little while longer
Hold on

These words are not just a cool ditty. They speak of a secure reality that reaches above my feelings and circumstances to a hard, fixed truth. Jesus is the one who holds all things together- “sustaining all things by His powerful word” Hebrews 1:3.

He is the one who sympathizes with our weaknesses – “who has been tempted in every way just as we are, yet without sin,” Hebrews 4:15. He sees. He knows. He offers clear instructions -“Hold firmly to the faith we possess.” He invites- Hebrews 4:14  “let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need,” Hebrews 4:16.

I have a choice…to keep spiraling downward or to accept His invitation and hold on.

    Wonderful 🙂  This is very

    Wonderful 🙂

This is very encouraging. Life can be so overwhelming at times it seems there is no one to turn to; people disappoint and abandon you. God will always be there though, no matter what! God never lets us down, and if it seems like He isn't there, its because we aren't searching for him. Sometimes I find it hard to go to God; its hard to give it all over. But in the end, its much better that trying to deal with it by myself.

God will never abandon us, so we should never be afraid to hold on.

Please help me find THIS SONG!

Gah! I've been searching forever for the original singer of this song. Selah did a nice cover, but I'm desperately searching for the woman who originally sang this. Would you happen to know who that was?Any help would be very much appreciated

    Unfortunately

I do not know the name of the original singer of this song. Doing a google search on the internet or perhaps contacting the Selah group directly might yield an answer for you. It is a great song, isn't it? I'm sorry I don't have a solution for you.
