The Tabernacle of Moses – God’s Heavenly Pattern for our Spiritual Transformation – Part VIII: The Women of the Tabernacle
After the Tent of Meeting was built, women were designated to serve at its entrance. There is minimal mention of these Tabernacle Women in scripture save for two scripture verses and possibly a third, fourth, and fifth. The First Biblical Reference for the Women of the Tabernacle He made the large basin of bronze and its pedestal of bronze from the mirrors of the women who served at the entrance of the tent of meeting. (Exodus 38:8 NET) And he made the laver of brass, and the base thereof of brass, of the mirrors of the serving women that did service at the door of the tent of meeting. (Exodus…

A fresh perspective on Deborah by Barb Haesecke
Our first-born daughter is a born leader. She came out of the womb with Director of Activities stamped on her forehead! She was smart, analytical, creative and passionate. I get it…as a female minister who is addicted to church history and loves exegetical preaching, the narrative of women's ministry can stand to be a little less Fru-Fru. Yet before you consider deleting the topic of self-esteem and beauty altogether, I implore you- don't do it! I am living proof that good theology does not do away with crippling insecurity. My in-depth understanding of the Imago-Dei (image…

Finding Women in Unexpected Places
Last month I embarked on a nine-day journey in the Middle East with a group of journalists. We went at the invitation of the host country’s Board of Tourism. And while I was there I interviewed a former seminary classmate, Bob Piper*, and his wife, Christine*, about living in a place where it’s illegal to proselytize. Bob told me that when he entered seminary, he planned to minister as a senior pastor in the United States. But his first missions class along with a series of lectures by Don Richardson, author of Peace Child, led Bob to make a personal course correction. Desiring “to go to a place that needs…
