Good News – Jer 36
The Good News of Jeremiah 36 Jer 36:1-3 In the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, this word came to Jeremiah from the Lord: “Take a scroll and write on it all the words that I have spoken to you against Israel and Judah and all the nations, from the day I spoke to you, from the days of Josiah until today. It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the disaster that I intend to do to them, so that every one may turn from his evil way, and that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.” If I had…

Good News – Isaiah 66
Introduction Isaiah is one of the longer books of the OT and chapter 66 is its last chapter. Isaiah lived and prophesied during the last years of the Northern Kingdom (~740-722 BC) and on to about the end of that century. His name means Lord is Salvation. This is poignant since Isaiah’s overall message combines a warning against unbelief with some of the most beautiful word-pictures in scripture of Jesus (Yeshua) in his first coming as well as his glory. Isaiah 66 touches on all of these and more.

Good News – Is 51
The Same Only Different Is 51:1 “Listen to me, you who pursue righteousness, you who seek the Lord: look to the rock from which you were hewn, and to the quarry from which you were dug. First, notice that God calls us. Specifically, he’s calling on those who seek righteousness. To me, this says that if we go looking for Him, He will respond by calling out to us, giving us the direction we need to find Him. He will not abandon those who come after Him.

Good News – Ecclesiastes 7
Introduction Ecclesiastes is a fascinating book filled with peculiar wisdom. It is attributed to Solomon and was most likely written toward the latter part of his reign in his old age. Throughout the book you can feel the almost melancholy from the writer as he describes the pointlessness of wasting one’s life on unimportant things, of trying to figure out the unfathomable instead of simply reveling in it, and of a selfish worldview in general. The wisdom of Chapter 7 includes a number of things the average person would think unusual if not crazy yet when one squints to peer using Solomon’s vision, truths appear which are far deeper than…

Good News – Proverbs 8
About Proverbs 8 Much of Proverbs is written as a collection of wise tidbits. There are chapters that focus on wisdom for youth, wisdom for women, wisdom for all. There are chapters that provide a series of short profoundly wise statements. In each of these we hear about wisdom. Proverbs 8 is different. Unlike many other chapters of this unique book, this chapter personifies Wisdom. Wisdom itself speaks with distinct personality. It beckons the reader to listen carefully. As I read this chapter it spoke to me as though its true name was Holy Spirit.

Good News – Psalm 94
Shine On Ps 94:1-2 O Lord, God of vengeance, O God of vengeance, shine forth! Rise up, O judge of the earth; repay to the proud what they deserve! I am reminded of the ancient Klingon Proverb: “Revenge is a dish best served cold.”

Good News – Psalm 44
The Good Old Days Ps 44:1-3 O God, we have heard with our ears, our fathers have told us, what deeds you performed in their days, in the days of old: you with your own hand drove out the nations, but them you planted; you afflicted the peoples, but them you set free; for not by their own sword did they win the land, nor did their own arm save them, but your right hand and your arm, and the light of your face, for you delighted in them. The authors, Levites who served the priests but themselves were not actually priests, remember and glorify and praise the awesome wonder,…
