    We’ve all taken them – “selfies”- fast photos usually of ourselves with others taken with our cell phones quickly at some event or activity that we want to text to those who were not present… a seemingly harmless action. A recent Opinion Editorial in the August 19 issue of the Wall Street Journal takes “selfies” to a new level offering a compelling perspective of the “all-me-all-the-time” immersion into the current cultural trend. This trend is epitomized by Kim Kardashian’s New Selfie Book “Selfish” which offers a 352 page collection of pictures she took of herself.     Johnny Henry Jowett, a well-known pastor from the late 1800’s, said: “Life without thankfulness is devoid of love and passion. Hope without thankfulness is lacking in fine perception. Faith without thankfulness lacks strength and fortitude. Every virtue divorced from thankfulness is maimed and limps along the spiritual road.” I’ve never doubted the importance of gratitude.     Co-pilot Hijacks Ethiopian Airliner and Freedom

    The Wall Street Journal reported that on Monday, Feb. 17 the co-pilot of an Ethiopian Airways jet was arrested after forcing the Rome-bound aircraft to land in Geneva in a bid for asylum in Switzerland.     Once the plane landed, the man, 31year old Haile-Medhin Abera Tegegn shimmied down a rope from the cockpit window asking for political asylum before the Swiss authorities took him into custody.  Think of the resolve it took to make the choice of hijacking.
