Dreams and Visions
Many moons ago when I had no kids of my own, I went to visit my sister who at that time had just one son. My four year old nephew had bunkbeds and he of course wanted Aunt Terri to sleep on the top bunk in his room with him. I obliged (how could I say no?).

A Story about my Dad
The most important thing you need to know about this story is the setting: small town Mississippi in 1987. The reason that is so important? In 1987 I was in the sixth grade and I was the definition of the know-it-all, smart-mouthed, dramatically annoying junior high girl. (Shocking, I know.)

Authority and Servanthood in the Gospel of Mark CONCLUSION!
Here we are at the end of our series in the gospel of Mark! I know its been a long run and I hope you’ve been able to trace the themes in the gospel along with me over the various posts. Today, let’s pull together what we’ve learned from our work.

Authority and Servanthood in the Gospel of Mark: Jesus Teaches about Servanthood*
One of my favorite portions of the New Testament is found in the middle of the gospel of Mark (8:22–10:52). (For a review, go here for part one which talked about the historical background of Mark’s story and here for part two where we highlighted the motif of authority found in the Gospel.)

A Mother’s Thoughts on Mother’s Day
I spent Mother’s Day, as I do every year of late, thinking about two women I have never met: Linda is around 43 years old and Naomi is about 28 (names are changed). I have no idea what either of these two ladies looks like or exactly where either of them might be found. I have never had a conversation with either; we’ve never exchanged letters or emails. I wonder about them often, but neither of them have any knowledge of me.

Authority and Servanthood in the Gospel of Mark, Part II: Tracing Themes
Two weeks ago, we started a series on authority and servanthood in the gospel of Mark. If you haven’t read Part I, where I introduced some of the historical backrground to the gospel, I would encourage you to do so.

Easter Candles
A few months ago I shared some of my favorite Christmas traditions including our family "Christmas Candles." Well, just in case the title didn’t give it away, we also have Easter candles!

Sometimes I Scream at God
I must admit it’s true. Most of these screaming fits occur in the middle of the night after everyone else is asleep and my mind refuses to shut down. If you’re wondering why I don’t awaken everyone in my house, it is only because my screaming fits occur almost exclusively inside my head. Ironically it’s usually in the midst of such fits that God speaks to me most clearly.
